Motorcycle Sketch

This is my first motorcycle drawing, which I made up as I went along. I have no idea what the bits (especially around the engine) are. I saw this machine parked by the side of the road. I thought if I were to attempt it, it will have to be from a photo, so I took a few photos. It's not perfect but I am glad that I tried :).

That's a great first motorcycle sketch! Are you giving free rides? :-)

Great attempt and it is so charming!

I wonder did you ride a motorcycle before Evelyn?
I did....and it just looked like this. I had a scary joyride...

What kind of sketch? This is much more. It's a drawing and a good one. Very believable. I love drawing mechanical things too from time to time.

I asked if mushroom was on handmade paper because the edge has the look. I didn't know you could buy such paper.

I'm no mechanic either but this is a great drawing! I'm glad you left it uncolored...it looks more machine-like :-D

Hi Evelyn,
Thank you for commenting on my blog.
Wow, you are good at painting. I admire your talent as I have none.
American style motorcycle tends to have V-shaped twin engine, BTW.
Have a nice day.

I think it looks great! I don't know anything about all the bits, either. Reminds me of how I bought a rubber stamp of a bicycle and my husband said, "It has no chain." But it looked cute. This motorcycle, however, does look like it really could zoom away.

Great sketch, I don't think perfection is needed in this case, it's great just how it is!

Not perfect? It's awesome!

Thanks everyone for your encouragement.

@ Yoon See: LOL, I can imagine that it is scary. I did ride (not such a big one tho!) once upon a time. It wasn't (isn't) me so I stopped. I still have my bike licence though. I will stick to my little bicycle for now!

@LW Roth:
Thanks Linda, mmm, reading my response on the mushroom sketch... just clarifying that it's regular white watercolour paper. I painted on layers of washes. The salt crystal was placed onto the wet paint, then removed when dry. It's great fun. :)

It's a great drawing! You've made the motorbike look like it takes up space!

It's better than anything I could do! Love it!

Wow, great job with the details! I wonder if you could also post the pictures of the original motorcycle. Or maybe, if you’d like to complete this drawing, you could do research about the body and the motors on the Internet. This looks like it could be a Harley-Davidson, I’m sure you’ll be able to find the details you need quickly.
