I was quite excited when I stumbled upon this the other day; I’ve never seen such a colourful mushroom… it’s made me think of a world of fairies and little people living in mushrooms…
Beautiful amanita muscaria (fly agaric mushroom)! Yes, this type of mushroom is associated with all sorts of folklore!
Did you know that Siberian shamans used to eat this mushroom for it's entheogenic properties, and that others in the tribe would then drink the urine of the shaman to have visions? As it turns out, the hallucinogenic properties are retained in the urine, while the shaman's body acts as a filter for the toxins found in the mushroom. Weird, huh?

Great capture - I have yet to get a mushroom shot that I like.

This champignon must have been Brian's inspiration for these champignons!
That is a very nice macro shot. A fairy tale mushroom, it seems like.

What a neat looking mushroom! And your photo is excellent.
What a beautiful specimen. Straight out of a fairy tale book. Joseph's comment is mind blowing.

I love stumbling on these mushrooms! So perfect and pretty! It makes me start looking for pixies, lol.
