Climbing the Great Wall

It is my second visit to Beijing, and although I had been to the Great Wall before, I wanted to go there again. It’s an awesome structure and the view out there is just beautiful.

Did I mention that the view is beautiful? Mountains after mountains as far as one can see, the fresh air, the big sky….

There are several tourist spots to visit the Great Wall. Some are busier than others due to ease of access. We went  to Simatei. It was quiet and there weren’t many people about.

It’s also great for exercise – we walked up and up for about 3 hours

There are food, drinks and souvenirs stalls along the way

We stopped often to enjoy the view, and to take some photos. But we also stopped because we ran out of breath…

And another.

On the way down, we took the easy way out. Some people opted for the flying fox.

Golly, I think I should add this sort of trip to my list! Your photos are just wonderful and I do like the images of the bugs.

I think I might like the chair-lift on the way UP instead, but I guess that defeats the purpose.

Your SECOND visit?! How wonderful for you!
The scenery is worth the climb. And I would be glad of the fast ride back down (going downhill is much harder on the legs than going uphill!)

It is indeed an awesome structure and your photos are breathtaking, Evelyn! I think I may have mentioned before, but my youngest daughter just returned recently from a trip to China and was awestruck by the Wall! Thanks for sharing the beauty! Have a great week!

Okay, now... I've enjoyed all of your pictures from your trip, but this is the first time that I have become truly jealous! I've always wanted to go to the Great Wall. Really!

I love that you added the small details too.
