Beijing food

BeijingFood © Evelyn Howard 2011

The weather in Beijing has been good in the past few days. When the temperature got over 20°C (68 °F) in the afternoons, we went out for our walks.

DSC00195 (2)In the photo on the top left, the vendor is selling sweet potatoes, baked over hot coals in a drum that is built onto his bicycle. I have not tried the sweet potatoes yet but it sure smelt good. I bet he feels nice and warm all the time, with the heat from the drum even when it is really cold.

We normally stopped for dinner and we tried to eat something different every day. A few days ago, we had  noodles in broth, with meat and vegetables – top right photo. Very nice.

On the way home, when the sun began to set, a lovely orange and pink tone  covered the sky and the sun looked like a glowing ball…

Have a nice Sunday.

I LOVE sweet potatos! Especially the ones that are roasted over fire like that...we had a vendor in front of our station in Tokorozawa and I would always buy one and hold it to warm up until I got home :-D

Beautiful sky! Hope you're enjoying your weekend there!

The fiery ball of the sun amid the pink/grey sky looks so bright. The bicycle food seller looks very interesting.

How long did you travel for?

Was it for work?

Are you still in China? The food looks delicious. I would be trying a sweet potato too.

Kaori is right, try the sweet potato; it's yum and super healthy too. Now that is the Beijing sky I know. Although that's not really fair of me to say, I've been there often enough to have seen it nice too. :-) What takes you there?
