Hi Ev. Why aren't you studying together? In '86 I spent six weeks at Beijing Yuyan Xueyuan (Language Institute) for an immersion program. It was a great start but I never progressed much - too many dialects spoken, and hubby is Cantonese. But I can talk to the taxi driver or foot masseuse! :-) So you're there for a while, then. Freelancing? I have a good friend in the city, so let me know if you need anything.
