Japanese Tea Garden, San Francisco

Greetings from San Francisco.

I visited the Japanese Tea Garden recently. It’s a beautiful place.

Bridge stones. Walk carefully or you will get wet.

I didn’t get a chance to climb this bridge – it was full of kids. There was hardly room for me to take this photo, balancing myself on another bridge with excited parents, who were taking snapshots of their children.

Before the crowd came…. The bridge in front was the one that I was able to stand on, to take the above photo. Visit Louis for more Sunday Bridges.

I love the stone lanterns.

Fabulous place. I spent many hours here drawing.

Udon, Japanese Tea Garden San Francisco © Evelyn Howard 2011

There’s a tea house in the Japanese Tea Garden. I had udon, and it made me think of my time in Japan.

Happy Weekend.

This place brings back great memories! My wife and I used to go here all the time during the first few years of our marriage. I especially liked going on cold days because I enjoyed the tea even more.
Wonderful pictures Evelyn!

Beautiful place!
My grandparents were born in Japan, I'm always glad when I see something related to the Japanese culture. ;-)

Your photographs have done it. You've brought the orient to me. I love the photo of the udon. Enjoy San Francisco. China Town was a wonderful photographic opportunity, but you might have had enough culture by now?

I have been to the tea garden, but not for a long time. It is lovely, and you show that well.

Thanks for the visit!

What a narrow and tall curve. Now you have to got again to tell us how hard it was to climb up and down.

Udon is my son's favourite. Once he went to a very good Japanese Restaurant at the Shangrilia, and he told the waitress it wasn't the udon his mum cooked. The manager came and got him another, the thick one like your photo.

Wonderful photos of the gracefully curved bridge.

The bridge looks like it is almost a straight climb up to reach the top.

Hi Evelyn- it's been a while, so it feels good to come back and visit! I love the Japanese traditions / artwork / architecture. In fact, I've just spent three weeks learning about them. Beautiful photos! Blessings!!

Evelyn. Let me get this straight. You left Asia to go to SF to go to a Japanese tea garden...? Huh!? LOL! Seriously, lovely place. Butdon't tell me you are in SF to learn English. LOL! (Sorry, it's super late; this is my last blog comment for the day.)

We have a lovely Japanese garden in Richmond which I photographed earlier this year. These areas are just the most beautiful ones when visiting formal gardens. The bridge in this one is MUCH steeper that the one I walked. The steep incline really does a trick on my stomach which I do not like. I prefer the little low one. All of the shots in this series are beautiful. I know you had a wonderful visit. Genie

Ann, don;t think I'm in a hurry to go back there... but if I do, I will certainly try! So did your son end up eating 2 bowls of noodles ? :)

@Linda

@Francisca: haha, not English... but I am taking drawing classes here.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR DROPPING BY.
