Friends, and Rotunda

Friends © Evelyn Howard 2011
Acrylics on canvas paper, 5.8 x 8.3 inches

There is a lake near our apartment, where lots of birds gather. I am not sure what specie this one is, but it didn’t look very happy. Poor birdie was all alone amongst the pigeons, so I thought it should have a friend.

This is Rotunda (no prize for guessing where her name comes from), a colourful pigeon I met by the lake.

Happy Paint Party Friday, and have a great weekend.

That's a brave ant - but clearly he knows we often find friendship in the strangest of places!

It's funny how everyone got the inspiration from our surroundings, very realistic that ant in the beak. Saludos

Both of your birds are great, but I especially like Rotunda. The overall composition and color in that painting are very striking.

Nice job. All my bird paintings wind up looking like rotunda!! Guess I like chubby birds, lol.

These are fabulous Evelyn! That is the prettiest pigeon I have ever seen! (And love the ant - he kind of looks like a woodpecker but unsure if woodpeckers hang out with pigeons...)

Great paintings as usual. I especially like the branch that Rotunda is sitting on.

These are GREAT_ I especially love Rotunda- she's has a little pissed off gleam in her eye, like she's daring us to judge her for her healthy appetite! Thanks for the smile!

So adorable!
I love the little insect friend with the first bird. :)

And the tree branches of the second are amazing...the contrasting pattern reminds me of a zebra print.

Happy PPF!!

Oh, these are some seriously fun birds! I love Rotunda, her expression actually reminds me of a friend's mother, and that cracks me up.

The ant needed a clue that it is supposed to be INSIDE not ON the bird's beak!

The first image is heartwarming. The bird and the ant look greeting warmly. I've never seen such a colorful pigeon like the second one.
