This bell belongs to the bicycle below… Visit Macro Monday for more pics.
A bicycle parked in our guesthouse. Pedal power is very popular, but there are also many electric bicycles.
When in China, do as the Chinese do… We hired a couple of Flying Pigeon bicycles (Chinese made) for the authentic riding experience. The above was my hired bike with loads of character, but no gear (Beijing is quite flat) and poor brakes. We rode across the city – it was such a scary experience, that I returned my bicycle the next day, and decided to stick to their fantastic subway to get around.

Nice close-up shot of the bell!
I would probably not do it today, but in 1986 I attended the Beijing Foreign Language Institute for six weeks. The daily bike ride - on a bike very similar to the Flying Pigeon you've posted - from my office to the institute was about 45 minutes, and to make it easier, I would grab onto a moving bus! The bus riders, when they saw me, would be horrified. But I was flying and had a ball!
Excellent! I really like the macro shot of the bell...

Great macro...sounds like a great experience in China.
Love the macro shot. I had such a great time bicycling in Beijing through all the tiny lanes, getting lost only to pop out at another huge 4-way "street". A chance to see a completely different view of the city
That is a great story. Bad brakes would be scary.
Thats a nice bell to take a macro of
Maybe scary but exciting! How fun! Love the sweet little bell!
Beautiful shot, fantastic!

amazing picture
lovely!
Nice photos, I was wondering what that first one was until I read your explanation. I'm not sure I'd want to ride a bicycle in a busy city.
Oh, I can imagine how scary that was in all the traffic-- with no brakes!! cool old bike though-- I love old bikes with bells.
