Fishing village on stilts, Hong Kong

Tai O village © Evelyn Howard 2011

We spent several nights in Tai O village, on Lantau Island.

It was a fantastic experience; there was so much to see and to draw.

I am not sure if the above is a home or just a storage shed.

I will upload more photos later.  Have a nice week.

Your photos bring the world to me without me ever having to get on a tour bus or walk gingerly on tricky terrain. My knees thank you. Wonderful references for paintings here Evelyn.

@Sadami, I know - it's a crazy structure isn't it. I don't know if that's safe!

@Linda, Glad you enjoy them. I hope that I have taken enough photos to use as drawing/painting reference.

Do you know that is how Amsterdam (capitol of Holland) was originally built in the Middle Ages: on stilts!

That is wild, nice watery photos. I've always wanted to see a village like that, but I have to admit that I'd be nervous in a house like that any time there was a storm!
