Impressions of my neighbourhood

Port Melbourne Sketch © Evelyn Howard 2011

Around my neighbourhood in Melbourne, Australia. The building is not so colourful, but I could not help myself when I had a few boxes of watercolours to play with.

It is Paint Party Friday again!

A couple of night shots – this is a view of the port

And restaurants at night for Weekend Reflections.

We had a lovely sunny day yesterday. I took this photo with my iPhone when I was out walking. We don’t normally have clouds like these – they remind me of the Simpsons on telly.

Have a happy weekend.

Those clouds! Those clouds! Those clouds! I'm at a loss for words... I can't believe you took that photo on an iPhone. I mean, I DO believe you, but it boggles my mind.

The last photo reminds me of your work, with people climbing up to the clouds.

I love your style. I look at this piece and think "that's it. I'm going to focus all of my effort on improving my drawing skills. no more wasting my time on these other things - nothing but drawing for me". of course I'll change my tune five minutes from now when I see a sublime abstract, or amazing portrait. I guess I just want to be good at everything, LOL. (but I really do love your work!)

The clouds do like The Simpson's! I love the watercolor as well!

The building may not be especially colourful, but it has interesting lines. Thus «Louis» understands why you would want to put it to watercolour.

I'm beginning to wonder why I bother to lug around a huge DLR when photos like yours can be taken with an iPhone! Nice night shots with reflected lights, too.

[I just followed you so I can see what you post through Google Reader when I know I don't have time to visit sites. I don't really like the idea of "lurking" but you know me well enough to know I am appreciating your posts. :-) ]

You are home! And the photographs and drawing of your neighborhood are as wonderful as your photos of the exotic places you have taken me to since I've been following. You do fit architecture onto a page admirably.
